Liberty County Chamber of Commerce

Community Development Committee

A group of like-minded individuals met on Wednesday, January 25th at Spuds to determine the feasibility of forming a committee to work toward making positive changes in the Chester community.

Our first mission was to decide on a title for this group.  The Community Development Committee was chosen.  We will strive to work alongside the Chamber and other community organizations, maintaining good communications with them with the goal of strengthening and enhancing all of our endeavors.

One of the missions decided upon was to put together an All-School reunion in 2020, and every 5 years thereafter.  Smaller fund-raisers or service opportunities may be carried out in other years. This will depend on the  active participants that turn out and the direction they want to take.  Many ideas were entertained in this regard.

We will look into being included in the Liberty County Combined Fund Drive so that we will have funding going forward to cover various expenses, which are unforeseen at this time.

We decided to make the middle weekend of July (as close to the 15th as possible) as our standard Chester celebration weekend, and keep it as that so people are able to plan ahead for family and class reunions.

This committee will continue to meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Spud’s back room.  The next meeting will be on February 22nd.  Come and bring your ideas!  All are welcome!

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world.  Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has………..Margaret Mead

Golden Prairie Community Foundation Reaches Fundraising Goal

We’ve done it! The Golden Prairie Community Foundation is pleased to announce that our two-year fundraising goal of $10,000 has been achieved.

When a five-year goal of $25,000 has been attained, the permanent endowment will be established.

Initially affiliated with the Montana Community Foundation in 2014, the Golden Prairie Community Foundation

awarded its first grants in 2015, awarding $1,000 to local non-profit organizations including the

Joplin Commercial Club, the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Education Foundation and the Rudyard Historical Society.

The Board of the Golden Prairie Community Foundation would like to thank all those that have caught the vision

of an endowment to benefit the future of our H-Line communities.
